    Severe Thunderstorm Warning - Southeast Queensland 
    for Heavy Rainfall
    
    for parts of Gold Coast Council Area.
    
    Issued at 5:25 am Tuesday, 23 December 2025.
    
    Severe thunderstorms are occurring in southeast Queensland today.
    
    HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
    Gold Coast
    The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 5:20 am, a severe thunderstorm likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding was detected near Coolangatta and Tallebudgera. This thunderstorm is moving towards the east. It is forecast to affect Miami and waters off Tweed Heads by 5:50 am.
     44.0 mm was recorded at Yangan (Swan Creek) in the 30 minutes to 12:00 am.
    Cancellation for the following areas:
    Scenic Rim,Logan
    
    Emergency services advise people to:
     * Park your car undercover away from trees.
     * Close doors and windows.
     * Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
     * Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
     * Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
     * Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
     * Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
     * Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
    A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for parts of the Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, Central West, Darling Downs and Granite Belt, Southeast Coast, Central Highlands and Coalfields and Maranoa and Warrego districts.
     Other warnings may be current.
    
    The next warning is due to be issued by 6:25 am.
