Coastal Hazard Warning
for DAMAGING SURF
for parts of Metropolitan, Mid North Coast and Hunter Forecast Districts.

Damaging Surf Conditions for central NSW.
Weather Situation
A coastal low pressure system offshore from the central NSW coast is tracking to the northeast over the Tasman Sea. Gale to storm force south to southwesterly winds around the low are expected to generate large and powerful surf conditions today, with damaging surf possible.
DAMAGING SURF for the following areas:
Mid North Coast, Hunter and Metropolitan
DAMAGING SURF CONDITIONS which may lead to localised damage and coastal erosion is possible between approximately Seal Rocks and Port Hacking from this morning, particularly for southern facing beaches.
Beach conditions in these areas could be dangerous and people should stay well away from the surf and surf exposed areas.
Damaging surf conditions are expected to ease this evening.
Locations which may be affected include Newcastle, Terrigal, Norah Head, Seal Rocks, Nelson Bay and The Entrance.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Stay vigilant and monitor conditions.
* For emergency help in floods and storms, ring your local SES Unit on 132 500.
The next Coastal Hazard Warning will be issued by 11:00 am AEST Thursday.
