Severe Weather Warning (Damaging Winds And Heavy Rainfall) for Tiwi and parts of Daly districts Sun 23 Nov 2025
Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology Northern Territory TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST Severe Weather Warning for Damaging Winds And Heavy Rainfall for Tiwi and parts of Daly districts. Issued at 4:38 pm Sunday, 23 November 2025. Heavy rainfall and damaging winds possible in rainbands to the east of Severe Tropical Cyclone Fina. Weather Situation Severe Tropical Cyclone Fina is moving southwest and is currently to the southwest of the Tiwi Islands. Bands of heavy rain are extending from Severe Tropical Cyclone Fina to the east affecting the Tiwi Islands and northern parts of the Daly district. DAMAGING WINDS and HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas: Daly and Tiwi HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is likely in the warning area. Six hourly totals of 60 to 100 mm are likely, with isolated totals of 150 mm possible. Strong winds averaging 50 to 60 km/h with DAMAGING WINDS GUSTS up to 100 km/h are possible with showers and thunderstorms. Conditions will continue to ease from the east during Sunday night as Severe Tropical Cyclone Fina continues to track towards the southwest. A Tropical Cyclone Advice and various Flood Watches/Warnings are also current. Please refer to https://www.bom.gov.au/weather-and-climate/warnings-and-alerts. 360 mm OF RAINFALL WAS RECORDED AT MIDDLE POINT IN THE 12 HOURS TO 5:56 AM. 202.5 mm of rainfall was recorded at Arnhem Highway (Adelaide River) in the 12 hours to 6:18 am. 109.8 mm of rainfall was recorded at Batchelor Airport in the 6 hours to 7:31 am The Northern Territory Emergency Service advises that people should: * secure loose outside objects and seek shelter when conditions deteriorate * pull over if it is raining heavily and you cannot see, park with your hazard lights on until the rain clears * avoid driving into water of unknown depth and current * create your own sandbags if there is flooding, by using pillow cases or shopping bags filled with sand and place them around doorways to protect your home * stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways * ensure pets and animals are safe * be prepared in case of power outages, have an emergency kit with a radio, torch, spare batteries and first aid kit * for emergency help in floods, storms and cyclones, contact the NTES on 132 500.
