Major Flood Warning For The Thomson River And Cooper Creek, Minor Flood Warning For The Barcoo River

MAJOR FLOODING ESTIMATED TO BE OCCURRING AT WINDORAH AND POSSIBLE AT JUNDAH FROM FRIDAY
A MODERATE FLOOD PEAK IS OCCURRING AT STONEHENGE
A moderate flood peak moving along the Thomson River is passing through Stonehenge. Upstream at Camoola Park and Longreach river levels are falling slowly. The flood peak currently at Stonehenge is forecast to move through Jundah during Friday and into the weekend.
Along the Barcoo River, the main peak is now downstream of Retreat, where river levels are falling.
Along the Cooper Creek, renewed major flooding is estimated to be occurring at Windorah (Main Channel). Further rises are likely as upstream flows arrive from the Thomson and Barcoo Rivers, with a flood peak forecast to reach Windorah early next week.
Peak forecasts will be refined as upstream peaks are observed.
Showers and thunderstorms are forecast for upper parts of the Thomson and Barcoo River catchments into the weekend. The situation is being monitored and this warning will be updated as required.
Thomson River:
Minor to moderate flooding is occurring along the Thomson River. Major flooding is possible at Jundah.
The Thomson River at Camoola Park was 3.60 m at 6:00 am Thursday and falling, with minor flooding.
The Thomson River at Camoola Park is expected to remain above the minor flood level (2.00 m) through to mid March.
The Thomson River at Longreach is currently at 4.49 m and falling, with moderate flooding.
The Thomson River at Longreach may fall below the moderate flood level (4.30 m) during Friday.
No observations are currently available for the Thomson River at Stonehenge. Based on the nearby automatic gauge, the river level is estimated to be above the moderate flood level (3.00 m) and steady around a peak.
The Thomson River at Stonehenge may remain around 3.50 m, near its peak through to the weekend, with moderate flooding.
The Thomson River at Jundah was 4.60 m at 7:00 am Thursday and rising, with moderate flooding.
The Thomson River at Jundah may peak near the major flood level (5.00 m) during Friday and into the weekend.
Barcoo River downstream of Isisford:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Barcoo River at Retreat.
The Barcoo River at Retreat is currently at 2.36 m and falling, with minor flooding.
The Barcoo River at Retreat may fall below the minor flood level (2.14 m) overnight Thursday into Friday.
Cooper Creek:
Major flooding is estimated to be occurring along the Cooper Creek at Windorah.
No observations are currently available for the Cooper Creek at Windorah. Based on upstream gauges major flooding is estimated to be occurring.
The Cooper Creek at Windorah may reach around 5.50 m early next week, with major flooding.

MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT WANAARING DURING TUESDAY
Along the Paroo River, the flood peak is at Hungerford in Queensland, which is likely to cause renewed river level rises at Willara Crossing. River levels at Wanaaring are also elevated, where minor flooding is possible during Wednesday.
A minor flood warning is current for the Paroo River in Queensland.

Minor flooding is occurring at Willara Crossing, and may develop at Wanaaring from Wednesday
The Paroo River at Willara Crossing is currently at 1.33 m and steady, above the minor flood level (0.7 m) with minor flooding.

The Paroo River at Wanaaring was at 2.35 m around 04:00 pm Tuesday, below the minor flood level.

A peak below the minor level was observed along the Isaac River at Yatton overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.
