Moderate Flood Warning For The Diamantina River

NEAR MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE AT BIRDSVILLE FROM FRIDAY
The flood peak is currently passing through Roseberth. This will approach Birdsville from Friday, where the river may reach near the moderate flood level. River levels upstream are steady at Durrie Station, and are continuing to ease at Monkira and Diamantina Lakes.

Diamantina River to Diamantina Lakes:
The Diamantina River at Diamantina Lakes is currently at 1.69 m and falling, below the minor flood level (2.00 m) and below the Springvale Diamantina Lakes Road Causeway level (2.10 m).
Diamantina River downstream of Diamantina Lakes:
Major flooding is occurring at Roseberth Station. Minor flooding is occurring at Monkira, Durrie and Birdsville.
The Diamantina River at Birdsville Police Station is currently at 5.30 m and rising slowly, with minor flooding.
The Diamantina River at Birdsville Police Station may reach near the moderate flood level (6.00 m) from Friday.

Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.
