Severe heatwaves can be dangerous for many people, especially older people, babies, children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with medical conditions and people who are unwell.
Seek a place to keep cool, such as your home, a library, community centre or shopping centre.
Close your windows and draw blinds, curtains or awnings early in the day to keep the heat out of your home.
If available, use fans or air-conditioners to keep cool.
Maximum temperatures in the low to mid forties with overnight minimum temperatures in the mid to high twenties. Severe heatwave conditions are expected to build over the coming days then ease over the weekend. Locations likely to be impacted include Kulgera and Yulara.

A slight to medium chance of showers and thunderstorms elsewhere, increasing to a medium to high chance in the Top End and Carpentaria District. Very hot to the W of the Stuart Highway S of Daly Waters and also in the Simpson District. Light to moderate E/NE winds S of the Top End, fresh and gusty in the Lasseter and S Tanami Districts during the morning and in the S Barkly District during the afternoon. Light to moderate SW/NW winds in the Top End.
