for Heavy Rainfall And Damaging Winds
for parts of Kimberley, North Interior and Pilbara districts.

Heavy rainfall and damaging winds possible on the periphery of Tropical Cyclone Luana.
Weather Situation
Severe weather will begin developing on the periphery of Tropical Cyclone Luana throughout Saturday and Sunday.
HEAVY RAINFALL and DAMAGING WINDS for the following areas:
Kimberley, Pilbara and North Interior
Tropical Cyclone Luana is expected to make landfall around the northwest Kimberley coast during Saturday.
DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of about 90 km/h are possible during Saturday and Sunday.
HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is expected to develop during Saturday and Sunday, initially about the central and northern Kimberley, extending into southern Kimberley and the North Interior tonight and into Sunday. 6-hourly totals between 70 and 120 mm are likely. 24-hourly totals between 80 and 150 mm are likely, with isolated falls up to 200 mm along the coastal fringe possible. Heavy rainfall will primarily be associated with thunderstorms.

Locations which may be affected include Bidyadanga, Fitzroy Crossing, Kalumburu, Mitchell Plateau, Mount Barnett and Troughton Island.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* If outside find safe shelter away from trees, power lines, storm water drains and streams.
* Close your curtains and blinds, and stay inside away from windows.
* Unplug electrical appliances and do not use land line telephones if there is lightning.
* If boating, swimming or surfing leave the water.
* Be alert and watch for hazards on the road such as fallen power lines and loose debris.
* Keep away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
* Be careful of fallen trees, damaged buildings and debris.
* Be careful of fallen power lines. They are dangerous and should always be treated as live.
* Assess your home, car and property for damage.
* If damage has occurred take photos and contact your insurance company to organise permanent repairs.
* If your home or property has significant damage, like a badly damaged roof or flooding, call the SES on 132 500.
The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 5:00 pm AWST Saturday.
