Severe thunderstorms are no longer affecting Greater Perth. The immediate threat of severe thunderstorms has passed, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Keep away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
* Be careful of fallen trees, damaged buildings and debris.
* Be careful of fallen power lines. They are dangerous and should always be treated as live.
* Assess your home, car and property for damage.
* If damage has occurred take photos and contact your insurance company to organise permanent repairs.
* If your home or property has significant damage, like a badly damaged roof or flooding, call the SES on 132 500.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning remains current for parts of the Greater Perth district.

No further warnings will be issued for this event.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning
for Heavy Rainfall

for parts of Great Southern, Lower West and Central Wheat Belt districts.

Severe thunderstorms with heavy rainfall continue in the southwest this evening.

Weather Situation
A trough ahead of an approaching cold front is generating isolated severe thunderstorms to the southeast of Perth, with a general movement towards the east.
HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Lower West, Great Southern and Central Wheat Belt
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Beverley and Pingelly.
66 mm was recorded in the 3 hours to 5:45pm at Brookdale Siding.
45.4 mm was recorded in the 1 hour to 1:05pm at Mount William.
42 mm was recorded in the 1 hour to 12:25pm at Harvey.
33.2 mm was recorded in the 1 hour to 12:40pm at Dingo Road.
37.2 mm was recorded in the 1 hour to 11:40am at Worsley.
61.6 mm was recorded in the 3 hours to 11:35am at Brunswick Junction.
64.6 mm was recorded in the 2 hours to 7:50am at Wilydowns.
55.8 mm was recorded in the 2 hours to 8am at Harman South Road.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* If outside find safe shelter away from trees, power lines, storm water drains and streams.
* Close your curtains and blinds, and stay inside away from windows.
* Unplug electrical appliances and do not use land line telephones if there is lightning.
* If there is flooding, create your own sandbags by using pillow cases filled with sand and place them around doorways to protect your home.
* If boating, swimming or surfing leave the water.
* Do not drive into water of unknown depth and current.
* Slow down and turn your headlights on.
* Be alert and watch for hazards on the road such as fallen power lines and loose debris.
* If it is raining heavily and you cannot see, pull over and park with your hazard lights on until the rain clears.
