for parts of Illawarra, Southern Tablelands, Australian Capital Territory, South West Slopes and Snowy Mountains Forecast Districts.

Severe thunderstorms with heavy rainfall for parts of the southeast, including Canberra, this evening.
Weather Situation
Upper atmospheric instability is combining with a moist airmass to produce severe thunderstorms with heavy rainfall this evening.
HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Illawarra, Southern Tablelands, South West Slopes, Snowy Mountains and Australian Capital Territory
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Canberra, Nerriga, Queanbeyan and Tidbinbilla.
Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the South Coast district and the warning for this district is CANCELLED.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.
* If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue.
* Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.

The next warning is due to be issued by 2:00 am Sunday.
