Warning to Sheep Graziers for the following areas:
South West, Central and West and South Gippsland forecast districts
Sheep graziers are warned that cold temperatures, showers and westerly winds are expected during Friday and Saturday. Areas likely to be affected include parts of the South West, Central and West and South Gippsland forecast districts. There is a risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions.

North Central and North East forecast districts
The Warning to Sheep Graziers for the North Central and North East forecast districts has been cancelled.

The next warning will be issued by 11:00 pm EST Friday.

Cancellation Of Severe Weather Warning

for East Gippsland, North East and West and South Gippsland Forecast Districts.

Issued at 4:59 pm Friday, 10 April 2026.

Damaging northwesterly winds have eased this evening.

Weather Situation
A cold front crossed the state this morning, resulting in a vigorous northwesterly flow about the eastern ranges. Winds have now eased below warning thresholds as the front moves further into the Tasman Sea.

East Gippsland, North East and West and South Gippsland
This warning is now cancelled.
Strongest wind gusts since 6am:
100 km/h at Mt Hotham at 10:31 am.
94 km/h at Falls Creek at 7:29 am.
93 km/h at Mt Hotham Airport at 7:39 am.
91 km/h at Mt Buller at 6:02 am.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Stay away from fallen powerlines - always assume they are live.
* Stay safe by avoiding dangerous hazards, such as floodwater, mud, debris, damaged roads and fallen trees.
* Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.

No further warnings will be issued for this event.
