Initial Minor Flood Warning For The North Esk River

Flood Warning Number: 1

MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT CORRA LINN FROM TUESDAY AFTERNOON WITH FORECAST RAIN
Moderate rainfall totals are forecast for the North Esk catchment from overnight Monday into Tuesday. This may result in creek and river level rises, with minor flooding possible at Corra Linn from Tuesday afternoon.

Upper North Esk River:
River level rises are expected along the Upper North Esk River from Tuesday afternoon.
Lower North Esk River around Corra Linn:
Minor flooding is possible along the Lower North Esk River around Corra Linn.
The North Esk River at Corra Linn is currently at 1.93 m and steady, below the minor flood level.
The North Esk River at Corra Linn may reach around the minor flood level (2.70 m) Tuesday afternoon with forecast rain.

Flood Safety Advice:
Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.

Severe Weather Warning
for Damaging Winds

for Western, Central Plateau and parts of Upper Derwent Valley, South East, North East, East Coast, Midlands, North West Coast and Central North Forecast Districts.

Issued at 11:00 am Monday, 15 September 2025.

Damaging winds redeveloping over much of the state from late this evening.

Weather Situation
Damaging northwesterly winds have eased this morning but are expected to redevelop from late this evening ahead of a cold front crossing tonight. On Tuesday, damaging winds may temporarily ease during the early to mid morning before redeveloping again about much of the warning area during the afternoon as a secondary front crosses. Gusty conditions are expected about the remainder of the state across Tuesday.
DAMAGING WINDS for the following areas:
Western, Upper Derwent Valley, South East, North East, East Coast, North West Coast, Central North, Central Plateau and Midlands
For CENTRAL and EASTERN parts: Strong northwesterly winds averaging 50 to 60 km/h with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of around 100 km/h are possible from late this evening. Winds are forecast to ease below warning thresholds late Tuesday night.
For the WEST COAST: DAMAGING NORTHWESTERLY WINDS averaging 65 to 75 km/h with peak gusts in excess of 100 km/h are possible during Tuesday afternoon. Winds are forecast to ease below warning thresholds during Tuesday evening.
Locations which may be affected include Hobart, Strahan, New Norfolk, Bothwell, Geeveston, Dover, Strathgordon, Zeehan and Tarraleah.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Supervise children closely.
* Check that family and neighbours are aware of warnings.
* Manage pets and livestock.
* Secure outdoor items including furniture and play equipment.
* Be prepared in case of power outages and report any outages to TasNetworks on 132 004.
* Beware of damaged trees and power lines and take care when driving.
* Listen to the ABC radio or check www.ses.tas.gov.au for further advice.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132500.

The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 5:00 pm AEST Monday.
Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
