Initial Minor Flood Warning For The Meander River

MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT STRATHBRIDGE AND WESTWOOD BRIDGE FROM THURSDAY AFTERNOON
Rainfall combined with relatively wet catchments is forecast to cause river level rises across the Meander River. River levels may reach the minor flood level at Strathbridge from Thursday afternoon, and at Westwood Bridge early Friday morning.

Meander River below Strathbridge:
Minor flooding may develop along the Meander River below Strathbridge from Thursday afternoon.
The Meander River at Strathbridge is currently at 1.36 m and steady, below the minor flood level.
The Meander River at Strathbridge may reach around the minor flood level (5.00 m) Thursday afternoon. Further rises are possible with forecast rain.

The Meander River at Westwood Bridge is currently at 1.18 m AHD and steady, below the minor flood level.
The Meander River at Westwood Bridge may reach around the minor flood level (4.00 m AHD) early Friday morning. Further rises are possible with forecast rain.

Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.

Warning to Sheep Graziers for the following areas:
King Island, North West Coast, Central North, Midlands, East Coast, Upper Derwent Valley and South East forecast districts
Sheep graziers are warned that cold temperatures, heavy rain and showers and westerly winds are expected during Wednesday and Thursday. Areas likely to be affected include the North West Coast, Midlands, East Coast and South East forecast districts and parts of the King Island, Central North and Upper Derwent Valley forecast districts. There is a risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions.

The next warning will be issued by 5:00 pm EDT Wednesday.
