for Damaging Winds
for Western, Upper Derwent Valley, South East, Central Plateau and parts of North East, East Coast, Midlands, North West Coast and Central North Forecast Districts.

Damaging winds developing over much of the state from tonight
Weather Situation
Damaging northwesterly winds are developing tonight ahead of a cold front crossing the state. On Tuesday, damaging winds may temporarily ease during the early morning before redeveloping again about much of the warning area from late morning or early afternoon as a secondary front approaches. Damaging winds are expected to ease during Tuesday evening.
DAMAGING WINDS for the following areas:
Western, Upper Derwent Valley, South East, North East, East Coast, North West Coast, Central North, Central Plateau and Midlands
For CENTRAL and EASTERN parts: Strong northwesterly winds averaging 50 to 60 km/h with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of around 100 km/h are possible from tonight until late Tuesday night.
For the WEST COAST: DAMAGING NORTHWESTERLY WINDS averaging 65 to 75 km/h with peak gusts in excess of 100 km/h are possible from late Tuesday morning. Winds are forecast to ease below warning thresholds during Tuesday evening.
Locations which may be affected include Hobart, Strahan, New Norfolk, Bothwell, Geeveston, Dover, Strathgordon, Zeehan and Tarraleah.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Supervise children closely.
* Check that family and neighbours are aware of warnings.
* Manage pets and livestock.
* Secure outdoor items including furniture and play equipment.
* Be prepared in case of power outages and report any outages to TasNetworks on 132 004.
* Beware of damaged trees and power lines and take care when driving.
* Listen to the ABC radio or check www.ses.tas.gov.au for further advice.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132500.
The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 5:00 am AEST Tuesday.
Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
