Minor Flood Warning For The Mary River

Flood Warning Number: 3
MINOR FLOOD EASING AT DAGUN POCKET THURSDAY AFTERNOON. A MINOR FLOOD PEAK AT GYMPIE THURSDAY EVENING.
MINOR FLOODING MAY EXTEND FURTHER DOWNSTREAM TO MIVA AND TIARO OVERNIGHT THURSDAY INTO FRIDAY.
Heavy rain during Wednesday and into Thursday has caused creek and river level rises throughout the Mary River catchment. Flood levels across much of the Upper Mary River catchment have peaked during Thursday and are slowly easing, whilst river levels continue to slowly rise at Gympie. River rises are moving along the lower reaches of the Mary River between Miva and Tiaro.
Further scattered showers are forecast for the remainder of Thursday and for the next few days.
Mary River to Gympie:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Mary River between Dagun Pocket and Gympie.
The Mary River at Dagun Pocket peaked at 7.34 metres around 07:40 am Thursday 28 March and is currently at 7.12 metres and falling, above the minor flood level (7.00 metres).
The Mary River at Dagun Pocket is expected to fall below the minor flood level (7.00 metres) Thursday afternoon.
The Mary River at Gympie is currently at 7.46 metres and rising slowly, above the minor flood level (6.00 metres).
The Mary River at Gympie is likely to peak near 7.60 metres early Thursday evening. The river level is likely to fall below the minor flood level (6.00 m) during Friday morning.
Six Mile Creek:
Elevated creek levels have commenced to ease along Six Mile Creek on Thursday afternoon.
Mary River downstream of Gympie:
River rises are occurring along the lower reaches of the Mary River on Thursday, between Miva and Tiaro.
The Mary River at Miva is currently at 7.02 metres and rising, below the minor flood level (7.50 metres).
The Mary River at Miva is likely to reach near the minor flood level (7.50 metres) overnight Thursday into Friday.
The Mary River at Tiaro is currently at 4.99 metres and rising, below the minor flood level (6.00 metres).
The Mary River at Tiaro may reach near the minor flood level (6.00 m) during Friday morning.
