Minor Flood Warning For The Tully River

MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT EURAMO
In the 24 hours to 3:00 pm Friday, rainfall totals of up to 120 mm were recorded across the Tully and Murray catchments. Minor flooding is occurring at Euramo, with river levels likely to peak during Saturday morning.
Showers and thunderstorms are forecast across the catchment for the remainder of Friday into Saturday before clearing Sunday. This situation is being closely monitored, and warnings will be updated as necessary.
Tully River:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Tully River.
The Tully River at Euramo is currently at 6.00 metres and rising, with minor flooding.
The Tully River at Euramo is likely to peak near 7.50 metres around 8:00 am Saturday morning, with minor flooding.

Flooding in North Queensland catchments during December 2023 damaged high priority river gauges that support the Bureau of Meteorology to provide high accuracy flood forecasts. While river gauges are being repaired, the Bureau will continue to issue flood watches and warnings for these catchments using the best available data.

PEETS BRIDGE LIKELY TO PEAK WITH MINOR FLOODING FRIDAY AFTERNOON
In the 24 hours to 12:00 pm Friday, rainfall totals of up to 120 mm were recorded across the Mulgrave and Russell catchments. A flood peak is now approaching Peets Bridge, where river levels are likely to peak with minor flooding. Downstream at Gordonvale, minor flooding is occurring and river levels are likely to peak late Friday afternoon.
Showers and thunderstorms are forecast across the catchment for the remainder of Friday into Saturday, before easing during Sunday. This situation is being closely monitored, and warnings will be updated as necessary.
Mulgrave River:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Mulgrave River.
The Mulgrave River at Peets Bridge is currently at 6.45 metres and rising, with minor flooding.
The Mulgrave River at Peets Bridge is likely to peak near 6.70 metres around 02:00 pm Friday afternoon, with minor flooding.
The Mulgrave River at Gordonvale is currently at 12.20 metres and rising, with minor flooding.
The Mulgrave River at Gordonvale is likely to peak near 13.00 metres late Friday afternoon, with minor flooding.
Russell River:
River level rises are occurring along the Russell River.

Minor Flood Warning For The Herbert River

MINOR FLOODING CONTINUING AT GLENEAGLE AND MINOR FLOOD PEAK AT ABERGOWRIE BRIDGE FRIDAY AFTERNOON.
Widespread rainfall totals of up to 20-50 mm , with isolated falls in excess of 100 mm have been recorded in the 24 hours to 9:00 am Friday in the Herbert River catchment. River level rises and areas of minor flooding are occurring along the Herbert River. The flood peak is approaching Abergowrie Bridge Friday afternoon, and is expected to pass through Ingham overnight Friday into Saturday well below the minor flood level.
Further showers and thunderstorms are forecast for the remainder of Friday which may result in renewed river level rises following the initial peak.
Herbert River to Nash's Crossing:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Herbert River to Nash's Crossing.
No current river level observations are available for the Herbert River at Gleneagle, however, based on the nearby automatic gauge, it is likely that the river level at Gleneagle is above the minor flood level (4.50 m) and falling following a minor flood peak early Thursday morning.
The Herbert River at Gleneagle is likely to remain above the minor flood level (4.50 m) during Friday and renewed river level rises are possible overnight Friday into Saturday with forecast rain.
Herbert River downstream of Nash's Crossing:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Herbert River downstream of Nash's Crossing.
The Herbert River at Abergowrie Bridge is currently at 6.60 metres and rising with minor flooding.
The Herbert River at Abergowrie Bridge may peak near 7.30 metres Friday afternoon.
The Herbert River at Halifax is currently at 3.52 metres and rising, below the minor flood level.
The Herbert River at Halifax is likely to reach the minor flood level (4.00 m) overnight Friday into Saturday.

RIVER LEVELS ARE EASING IN THE CAPE RIVER
River levels have peaked in the Cape River, and no further flooding is expected.
Rainfall in the Cape River catchment in the 24 hours to 9am Friday was generally less than 10mm, although some isolated totals of up to 40mm were recorded. Showers and possible storms are forecast during Friday and into the weekend. No significant rainfall totals are expected.
Cape River to Burdekin Falls Dam:
No further flooding is expected in the Cape River to Burdekin Falls Dam.
The Cape River at Taemas is currently at 3.31 metres and steady, after peaking below the minor flood level Thursday morning.
