Hazardous Surf Warning for Queensland

Weather Situation
Surf and swell conditions are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as rock fishing, boating, and swimming in the following areas.

Warnings for Monday 22 April

Hazardous Surf Warning for the following areas:
K'gari Coast and Sunshine Coast Waters

Surf Life Saving Queensland advise that:
People should consider staying out of the water and avoid walking near surf-exposed areas.
Rock fishers should avoid coastal rock platforms exposed to the ocean and seek a safe location that is sheltered from the surf.
Boaters planning to cross shallow water and ocean bars should consider changing or delaying their voyage.
Boaters already on the water should carry the appropriate safety equipment and wear a lifejacket.
Boaters should remember to log on with their local radio base and consider their safety management plan.

The next warning will be issued by 5:00 am EST Sunday.

Minor Flood Warning For Bokhara River
Issued at 10:34 AM EST on Saturday 20 April 2024
Flood Warning Number: 21

MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT HEBEL
No significant rainfall has been recorded in the Balonne and Bokhara River catchments in the 24 hours to 9:00 am Saturday. Showers and rainfall are possible over the next few days.

Lower Balonne and Bokhara Rivers, Balonne River Minor:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Bokhara River.
The Bokhara River at Hebel is currently at 1.02 metres and rising slowly, with minor flooding.
The Bokhara River at Hebel is likely to remain above the minor flood level (1.00 m) for the next few days.

Minor Flood Warning For The Weir River

MINOR FLOODING EASING AT TALWOOD
Minor flooding is occurring along the Weir River at Talwood where river levels are falling slowly. The flood peak has now passed Jericho and is approaching Mascot.
River levels are rising downstream of Talwood along the Weir and Barwon Rivers to Mungindi where moderate flooding is occurring. A Moderate Flood Warning is current for the Barwon River (NSW).
Scattered rainfall of 5 mm to 15 mm has been recorded across the Weir River catchment in the 24 hours to 9:00 am Friday. No significant rainfall is forecast for the next few days.

Weir River downstream of Giddi Giddi South:
Moderate flooding is occurring along the Weir River downstream of Giddi Giddi South at Mascot. Moderate flooding is occurring at Jericho.
The Weir River at Talwood is currently at 3.14 metres and falling, above the minor flood level (3.00 m).
The Weir River at Talwood is likely to fall below the minor flood level (3.00 m) late Friday.

FLOODING NO LONGER EXPECTED AT NINDIGULLY AND THALLON BRIDGE
Scattered rainfall of 13 mm to 17 mm has been recorded in the Moonie River catchment in the 24 hours to 9:00 am Friday. No significant rainfall is forecast for the next few days. River levels are expected to be below minor flood levels and no further flooding is expected.

Moonie River downstream of Flinton:
No further flooding is expected in the Moonie River downstream of Flinton.
The Moonie River at Nindigully is currently at 2.15 metres and falling, below the minor flood level (2.20 m).
The Moonie River at Nindigully is likely to remain below the minor flood level (2.20 m) .

The Moonie River at Thallon Bridge is peaking at 3.90 metres and steady, below the minor flood level (4.00 m).
