Significant rainfall and river level rises have been observed across the Georgina River and Eyre Creek catchments over the last several days. Along the Upper Georgina River, major flood peaks are approaching Glenormiston and Roxborough, while a moderate flood peak was observed early Monday morning along the Burke River at Boulia. Moderate flooding is occurring at Bedourie and major flooding may develop from mid week. Downstream at Glengyle, major flooding may develop later in the week. Significant renewed rises are expected in the coming weeks at Bedourie and Glengyle as floodwaters arrive from the upper catchment.
Additional river rises, localised flooding and overland inundation remain possible across the catchment as floodwaters move downstream. Road access is likely to be affected, and communities may become isolated. The situation is being closely monitored and warnings will be updated as required.
