Weather Situation
Surf and swell conditions are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as rock fishing, boating, and swimming in the following areas.

Hunter Coast

Warnings for Thursday 01 May

Hazardous Surf Warning for the following areas:
Macquarie Coast, Hunter Coast, Sydney Coast and Illawarra Coast

NSW Police Force, Marine Area Command advise that:
People should consider staying out of the water and avoid walking near surf-exposed areas.
Rock fishers should avoid coastal rock platforms exposed to the ocean and seek a safe location that is sheltered from the surf.
Boaters planning to cross shallow water and ocean bars should consider changing or delaying their voyage.
Boaters already on the water should carry the appropriate safety equipment and wear a lifejacket.
Boaters should remember to log on with their local Marine Rescue radio base, via VHF Radio or the Marine Rescue APP, and consider their safety management plan.

The next warning will be issued by 5:00 am EST Thursday.

Minor Flood Warning For The Hastings River

MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT SETTLEMENT POINT ON THE HIGH TIDE THURSDAY NIGHT
The river level along the Hastings River at Settlement Point peaked below the minor flood level (1.20 m) Tuesday evening. This river level is expected to remain below the minor flood level during Wednesday. High tides have the potential to cause minor flooding along the Hastings River at Settlement Point overnight Thursday into Friday.

Hastings River:
Minor flooding may occur along the Hastings River.

The Hastings River at Settlement Point peaked at around 1.04 metres late Tuesday and is currently at 0.02 metres and falling with the tide, below the minor flood level (1.20 m).
Hastings River at Settlement Point is expected to peak below the minor flood level late Wednesday, on the high tide. The river level may reach the minor flood level Thursday night, on the high tide.

Flood Safety Advice:
In life threatening emergencies, call 000 (triple zero) immediately. If you require rescue, assistance to evacuate or other emergency help, ring NSW SES on 132 500.
*Avoid drowning. Stay out of rising water, seek refuge in the highest available place.
*Prevent damage to your vehicle. Move it under cover, away from areas likely to flood.
*Avoid being swept away. Stay out of fast-flowing creeks and storm drains.
*Never drive, ride or walk through flood water. Flood water can be deceptive and dangerous.}
