Hazardous Surf Warning for New South Wales

Weather Situation
Surf and swell conditions are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as rock fishing, boating, and swimming in the following areas.
Hazardous Surf Warning for the following areas:
Macquarie Coast, Hunter Coast and Sydney Coast
Cancellation for the following areas:
Illawarra Coast

NSW Police Force, Marine Area Command advise that:
People should consider staying out of the water and avoid walking near surf-exposed areas.
Rock fishers should avoid coastal rock platforms exposed to the ocean and seek a safe location that is sheltered from the surf.
Boaters planning to cross shallow water and ocean bars should consider changing or delaying their voyage.
Boaters already on the water should carry the appropriate safety equipment and wear a lifejacket.
Boaters should remember to log on with their local Marine Rescue radio base, via VHF Radio or the Marine Rescue APP, and consider their safety management plan.

The next warning will be issued by 5:00 pm EST Friday.

Minor Flood Warning For The Namoi River

MINOR FLOODING CONTINUES AT GOANGRA, MAY FALL BELOW MINOR FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON
The main flood peak along the Namoi River is now downstream of Goangra, where river levels continue to fall slowly with minor flooding.

Namoi River:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Namoi River at Goangra.
The Namoi River at Goangra is currently at 5.72 m and falling slowly, with minor flooding.
The Namoi River at Goangra may fall below the minor flood level (5.50 m) from Friday afternoon.

Flood Safety Advice:
Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.
Check the ABC and local media for updates. The situation can change quickly, so stay informed.

Minor Flood Warning For The Nepean River

MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT MENANGLE BRIDGE
Moderate to heavy rainfall has been recorded across the Hawkesbury and Nepean River catchments since Wednesday morning. Rainfall is likely to continue into Thursday morning, however, should mostly clear during the remainder of the day.

Upper Nepean River:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Upper Nepean River.
The Nepean River at Menangle Bridge is currently at 5.41 m and rising, above the minor flood level (5.20 m).
The Nepean River at Menangle Bridge may reach around 7.40 m Thursday morning, with minor flooding. Further rises are possible with forecast rain.
