Detailed Severe Thunderstorm Warning
for Heavy Rainfall
for parts of Blue Mountains/Hawkesbury, Maitland/Cessnock, Gosford/Wyong, Sydney and Greater Newcastle areas.

Heavy rainfall is ongoing about parts of Sydney, the Blue Mountains and the Hunter.
HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Blue Mountains/Hawkesbury, Maitland/Cessnock, Greater Newcastle, Gosford/Wyong and Sydney
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 10:15 am, severe thunderstorms likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding were detected near Dooralong, Bucketty and Cattai. These thunderstorms are moving towards the west to northwest. They are forecast to affect Wilberforce and the Yengo National Park southwest of Wollombi by 10:45 am and the Wollemi National Park north of Kurrajong and the area between Wollombi and Bucketty by 11:15 am.
74.2 mm OF RAINFALL WAS RECORDED AT WEBBS CREEK (WISEMANS FERRY) IN THE 2 HOURS TO 8:37 AM.
72.0 mm of rainfall was recorded at Maroota (Tobruk) in the 3 hours to 8:32 am.
53.2 mm of rainfall was recorded at Shanes Park (South Creek Road) in 1 hour to 06:55 am.
68.0 mm of rainfall was recorded at Liverpool (Georges River) in the 5 hours to 05:15 am.
39.5 mm of rainfall was recorded at Kelso Creek in 1 hour to 04:45 am.
44.0 mm of rainfall was recorded at Peakhurst Golf Club in 1 hour to 04:30 am.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.
* If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue.
* Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.

A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for parts of the Hunter, Metropolitan and Central Tablelands districts.
