Minor Flood Warning For The Barwon And Darling Rivers

MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT MOGIL MOGIL
RENEWED MINOR FLOODING LIKELY AT MUNGINDI FROM WEDNESDAY
MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT COLLARENEBRI, WALGETT AND BOURKE
MINOR FLOODING EXPECTED AT MENINDEE TOWN AND DOWNSTREAM
River levels along the Barwon River at Mungindi peaked on Wednesday 18 May with moderate flooding. Renewed minor flooding is likely at Mungindi from Wednesday, driven by floodwaters from the Weir and Macintyre Rivers (Qld).
Floodwaters from the Barwon River, Moonie River (Qld) and Gil Gil Creek are arriving at Mogil Mogil and are likely to cause a minor flood peak on Thursday.
Renewed rises are possible at Mogil Mogil from the renewed rises at Mungindi. Predictions will be provided once the renewed peak at Mungindi is observed.
Floodwaters of the main flood peak along the Barwon River are expected to move through Collarenebri around the end of May. Minor flooding is possible at Walgett early June.
Floodwaters from the Culgoa River combined with floodwaters from the Barwon River have the potential to cause minor flooding along the Darling River at Bourke early next week.
River levels at Menindee Town are expected to exceed the minor flood level (8.50 metres) from Friday night as WaterNSW increases the releases from the Menindee Lake. WaterNSW are responding to changed forecasts in upstream inflows that now exceed the capacity for storage at Menindee Lakes. River levels at Menindee Town may reach 9.00 metres early June when the releases are stabilise. The release plan follows consultation with the SES and local communities.
River levels at Weir 32 are likely to exceed the minor flood level (6.00 metres) Friday night into Saturday and are likely to reach 6.50 metres early June with minor flooding.
Minor flooding is likely at Pooncarie and Burtundy from mid June.
Barwon River Mungindi to Collarenebri:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Barwon River at Mogil Mogil, and possible at Collarenebri. Renewed minor flooding is likely at Mungindi.
Renewed river level rises are occurring at Mungindi where river levels are expected to exceed the minor flood level (6.10 metres) during Wednesday and may reach around 6.50 metres over the weekend with minor flooding.
The Barwon River at Mogil Mogil may peak around 8.00 metres with minor flooding during Thursday.
The Barwon River at Collarenebri may reach the minor flood level (5.80 metres) towards the end of May.
Barwon River downstream of Collarenebri to Walgett:
Minor flooding may occur along the Barwon River at Walgett.
The Barwon River at Walgett may reach the minor flood level (10.50 metres) early June.
Barwon and Darling Rivers downstream of Brewarrina to Bourke:
Minor flooding may occur along the Darling Rivers at Bourke.
The Darling River at Bourke is likely to reach the minor flood level (9.50 m) around Monday next week. Further rises are possible.
Darling River downstream of Wilcannia to Burtundy:
Minor flooding is expected along the Darling River at Menindee Town and downstream.
The Darling River at Menindee Town is expected to exceed the minor flood level (8.50 m) Friday night into Saturday. The river level is likely to reach around 9.00 metres around 06 June with minor flooding.
The Darling River at Pooncarie may reach the minor flood level (6.80 m) towards the end of the second week in June. Further rises are possible.
The Darling River at Burtundy may reach the minor flood level (6.10 m) towards the end of the third week in June. Further rises are possible.
