Safety Advice:
Severe heatwaves can be dangerous for many people, especially older people, babies, children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with medical conditions and people who are unwell.
Seek a place to keep cool, such as your home, a library, community centre or shopping centre.
Close your windows and draw blinds, curtains or awnings early in the day to keep the heat out of your home.
If available, use fans or air-conditioners to keep cool.
Maximum temperatures in the low to mid forties and overnight minimum temperatures in the mid twenties in the south. Over the eastern Top End, maximum temperatures in the high thirties to low forties and overnight minimum temperatures in the mid twenties in the south.
Severe heatwave conditions across southern parts of NT will ease over the weekend as a milder change moves through. Severe heatwave conditions are developing over northeastern NT and are expected to peak early next week. Locations likely to be impacted include Alice Springs, Bulman, Jervois and Yulara.
The next heatwave warning will be issued by 3:00pm CST on Saturday 13 December 2025

Today: A slight to medium chance of showers and thunderstorms, increasing to a medium to high chance in the Daly and Gregory Districts. Thunderstorms in the Simpson and Lasseter Districts may be gusty with little, if any, rainfall. Areas of raised dust in the S Simpson District. Very hot in the Simpson, S Arnhem, W Tanami, NW Simpson and SE Barkly Districts, and a little cooler in the Lasseter and SW Simpson Districts. Light to moderate W/NW winds ahead of a moderate to fresh and gusty SE/SW change extending N over the Lasseter and Simpson Districts during the day.
