  • Flood Watch Advice for Northern and Western River Basins Thu 09 Sep 2010

    Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology
    Tasmania

    FLOOD WATCH ADVICE
Issued at 9:56pm on Thursday the 9th of September 2010

Flood Watch advice for northern and western river basins

    Statement:
Rain, patchy in the east and south. Isolated thunderstorms about the west and
    north overnight.

Between 10 and 15 mm of rain is expected about the north this evening and early
Friday, particularly over the northwest and central north, with the possibility
of 20 mm over elevated areas. In the 6 hours to 3 pm Thursday, between 5 and 10
mm of rainfall, 15 mm at Mount Read, have been reported.

As the north and west is generally saturated and rivers are already running
high, further rainfall may cause strong and dangerous flows to become a hazard
in some rivers and streams. Also possible heavy showers or thunderstorms in the
north and west may result in local flash flooding.

    Weather Outlook:
Rain, easing to showers Friday morning. Isolated thunderstorms in the north and
    west overnight.

Next advice: 5 am, Friday 10 September 2010.
